Michael is from South Africa and, before entering the world of yachting in 2023, spent over 10 years serving and managing in the high-end hospitality industry. This notably included his role as Assistant General Manager, working towards achieving 2 Michelin stars. With a Bachelor’s
degree in Business Administration in Hotel Management, extensive experience in the restaurant industry, and a proven ability to thrive in high-pressure environments, he excels at both delivering high-quality service and managing crew. After experiencing life at sea in 2017 as a sommelier for the 3 Michelin-star restaurant on the Seabourn Encore, he couldn’t resist the call of the waves. He has returned to the sea, this time as a deckhand. His broad skill set, drive for excellence, and warm, professional approach make him an asset to the team. While he maintains a deep appreciation for fine dining and cocktails, when not on duty, he enjoys watersports and is eager to help guests make the most of the toys on board.
